From egg to bee.

I know better than to check for my queens' acceptance too early. Maybe it's just my eyes but it's at least two full weeks before I can see clear signs of brood and happy integration. And after all the rain and cool weather, today was check in day! I'm thrilled to see that every one of the queens looks good. (Haven't checked the queen cells yet.)

I deliberately kept the nucs small because I've had the experience of a nuc swarming (seriously how inept do you have to be to have that happen?) So the frames with foundation are just starting to be pulled out, but there is brood. Lovely, healthy eggs, larvae and capped brood. Drippy, clear nectar and multicoloured pollen.

All that lovely brood, it's a beekeeper's reward.
